ImpactRyan rejoined the major-league roster July 9 and allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out one in 1.2 innings across two relief appearances during his stint with the Cubs. He'll head back to the minors after right-hander Dillon Maples (triceps) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

ImpactMaples began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa in late June, and he posted a 3.72 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 9.2 innings across seven appearances with the minor-league club. He should be available to pitch mainly in low-leverage situations going forward. Left-hander Kyle Ryan was optioned to Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move.
