ImpactThompson was traded to the Cubs in mid-May, and he slashed .240/.350/.496 with eight home runs, 25 RBI and 20 runs across 34 games with Triple-A Iowa. It's not yet clear how long he'll be sidelined.

David Bote - Nearing rehab assignmentBote (shoulder) could start a rehab assignment as soon as early next week, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
ImpactBote has been on the IL since May 30 with a dislocated left shoulder. He's progressed well and is on the brink of going on a rehab stint. The infielder will likely need to get multiple games under his belt in the minors, but a return to the Cubs within the next week remains a possibility.

ImpactWilliams has been sidelined since the end of May, but he's been ramping up his intensity across the last several weeks. He threw a simulated inning Tuesday and threw a bullpen session Thursday, and the start of his rehab assignment should allow him to increase his pitch count. It's not yet clear how many rehab games the right-hander could require before he returns to the majors, but he's progressing well in his recovery.

Dillon Maples - Slated to begin rehab assignmentMaples (triceps) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa on Saturday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
ImpactMaples has been on the injured list with a right triceps strain since June 16, but his rehab assignment could be the final step in his recovery. Since he hasn't had a lengthy absence and pitches in short stints, the right-hander could return to the big leagues after a brief rehab assignment.
