Greg Allen - Takes live BPAllen (hip) faced rehabbing pitcher Nestor Cortes (shoulder) in a simulated game Sunday, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.
ImpactWhile it's unclear to what extent Allen was able to run the bases -- if at all -- his ability to stand in against live pitching is seemingly a positive sign of progress as he works his way back from a right hip flexor strain. Shortly after Allen was placed on the 10-day injured list June 3, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said the outfielder would likely be out for 6-to-8 weeks. At this stage, Allen looks like he could be trending toward a return at the shorter end of that timeframe.

Jonathan Loáisiga - Returns to mound workLoaisiga (elbow) completed a 10-pitch bullpen session Sunday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
ImpactLoaisiga started up his throwing program in mid-June and returned to the mound Sunday for the first time since he underwent surgery in early May to remove a bone spur from his right elbow. The 28-year-old is already eligible to be activated from the 60-day IL, but he's likely still at least a few weeks away from rejoining the active roster.

Everson Pereira - Shining since promotion to Triple-APereira is slashing .529/.579/.765 with a home run, seven RBI and five runs since being moved up to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on July 4.
ImpactPereira earned the promotion by slashing .291/.362/.545 with 10 long balls and 31 RBI over 46 contests with Double-A Somerset. The outfielder debuted at the Triple-A level with a flourish, smashing a three-run homer in his first at-bat, and has logged at least one hit in each of his four games with the RailRiders thus far. Pereira is on the Yankees' 40-man roster, and there's a reasonable chance he'll make his MLB debut at some point this season.

Nestor Cortes - Another sim game on tapCortes (shoulder) was "totally pain free" during his 20-pitch simulated game Sunday and is scheduled for another session Thursday, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.
ImpactIt was the left-hander's first time facing live batters since he landed on the shelf with a shoulder strain in early June, and he should continue building up his workload Thursday. Cortes won't be eligible to be activated until early August since he was recently transferred to the 60-day IL, but he wasn't a likely bet to return much before that regardless since he'll require a multi-outing rehab assignment in the minors.

Trey Mancini - Not starting SundayMancini is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.
ImpactMancini started each of the last two games at first base but will head to the bench Sunday, with Jared Young getting the start. Young started off quickly but has fallen into a slump more recently, so Mancini could earn a larger share of playing time after the All-Star break. The veteran is batting .239 with a .652 OPS across 68 games.
