ImpactPolanco started each of the last four games and went 3-for-14 with a double, three runs, three walks and five strikeouts during that time. However, Phillip Evans will take over in right field for Monday's series opener against San Diego while Erik Gonzalez starts at third base.

ImpactHe also made a fine running grab in center field. Sunday's effort was particularly important because Fowler has struggled for the most part in in 2021. The double was his first extra-base hit and lifted his slash line to .222/.286/.278 in 21 plate appearances. Fellow center fielder Anthony Alford is still looking for his first hit after 15 at-bats, but there has been discussion of moving Bryan Reynolds from left field to center in an effort to keep Phillip Evans in the lineup after Ke'Bryan Hayes (wrist) returns.

ImpactSince going 2-for-5 on Opening Day, Newman has collected only four hits in 27 at-bats. He's totaled one extra-base hit (a double) and no stolen base attempts. The team has batted him in various spots of the lineup without success. As a result, he could lose some playing time to Erik Gonzalez at shortstop until he regains his batting stroke.

ImpactIt's looking more and more like his poor offensive work in 2020 (.189/.275/.357) was an anomaly. Reynolds, who's batting .324, continues to hit third in the lineup while playing left field. There has been talk of shifting him over to center field to make room for Phillip Evans in the outfield when Ke'Bryan Hayes (wrist) returns to third base, but nothing has yet been decided.
