Blake Cederlind - Slated for side sessionsCederlind (elbow) will begin throwing side sessions late this week, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.
ImpactCederlind began facing live hitters in April before he was shut down in early May. He ultimately received a PRP injection but will be able to resume mound work in the coming days. The right-hander still needs to ramp up his intensity before he's in the mix to return from the injured list, but he's trending in the right direction.

Nick Mears - Managing right forearm tightnessMears (elbow) is dealing with right forearm tightness following Wednesday's rehab start at Triple-A Indianapolis, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.
ImpactMears has been recovering from right elbow surgery since mid-March and appeared to be closing in on a return from the injured list prior to Wednesday's outing, but it's concerning to see him dealing with a forearm issue. The Pirates haven't yet determined the next steps in his recovery process, but he'll likely be monitored in the coming days.

Greg Allen - Likely sidelined through mid-JulyAllen (hamstring) is unlikely to be available for major-league game action until after the All-Star break, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.
ImpactAllen has been dealing with a hamstring injury since early April but resumed baseball activities in late April. While he appeared to be trending toward a rehab assignment last month, he hit a snag in his recovery process and will likely be unavailable for at least another month. While the 29-year-old is unlikely to rejoin the Pirates until late July, it's possible that he'll be cleared for a rehab assignment before then.

Jake Marisnick - Close to rehab assignmentMarisnick (thumb) will likely begin a rehab assignment next week, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
ImpactMarisnick has been sidelined since early May while recovering from thumb surgery and landed on the COVID-19 injured list Monday. It doesn't appear as though his shift to the COVID-19 IL will impact his progress in his recovery, as he'll likely be able to return to game action in the minors next week. Given the length of his absence, Marisnick will likely need to appear in several rehab games prior to rejoining the Pirates.

Zach Thompson - Optimistic for minimal IL stintThompson (forearm) is optimistic that he'll be able to rejoin the Pirates after spending the minimum of 15 days on the injured list, Chris Halicke of DKPittsburghSports.com reports...
ImpactThompson landed on the 15-day IL due to right forearm nerve inflammation Monday, but his injury doesn't appear to be particularly serious. The right-hander is eligible to return as early as July 3, and he'll presumably ramp up his workload in the coming days.
JUNE 22, 2022ROTOWIRE
Dillon Peters - Slated to throw live BPPeters (back) will throw live BP in Tampa sometime this weekend, Chris Halicke of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
ImpactPeters landed on the 15-day IL due to a back muscle spasm in early June, and he won't return to action when first eligible. However, he'll take a significant step in his recovery process by facing live hitters over the weekend and could return to game action sometime next week if he feels good following his live BP.

Nick Gonzales - Managing right plantar fasciitisGonzales is dealing with right plantar fasciitis and will be required to spend 2-4 weeks in a walking boot, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.
ImpactGonzales was transferred to the 60-day injured list Tuesday and will be shut down for several weeks after visiting with a foot and ankle specialist. While the right-hander was initially believed to be dealing with heel soreness, he'll likely be kept out of game action until at least late July or early August following his new diagnosis.
