Shota Imanaga - Start moved to ThursdayManager Craig Counsell said that Imanaga will make his next start in Thursday's series finale in San Francisco, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
ImpactImanaga had previously been in line to start Wednesday, but he'll get an extra day to rest up after he was lit up for 10 earned runs in just three innings during his most recent outing Friday against the Mets. Despite his awful performance Friday, the 30-year-old southpaw has still been strong overall with a 2.96 ERA and 1.10 WHIP alongside an 81:12 K:BB through 79 innings over 14 starts. Counsell didn't name a replacement starter for Wednesday, though he noted a bullpen game is the most likely course of action.

Hayden Birdsong - Making MLB debut WednesdayThe Giants will promote Birdsong from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday to start against the Cubs, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
ImpactThe Giants' rotation has been hit hard by injuries recently, so Birdsong will receive an opportunity to pitch in the majors just two weeks after reaching Triple-A. The 22-year-old right-hander posted a 2.05 ERA and 1.12 WHIP through 48.1 innings with Double-A Richmond, but he's slowed down at Sacramento, allowing five earned runs in nine innings across his first two starts. Birdsong is considered one of the best pitching prospects in the Giants' farm system, though he may struggle initially in the majors following a rapid ascension through the minor leagues.

ImpactKilian began throwing bullpen sessions earlier this month and has now progressed to facing live hitters for the first time since landing on the injured list before Opening Day.
