Drew VerHagen - Shifts to 60-day ILVerHagen (hip) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.
ImpactIt was announced Thursday that VerHagen will require season-ending surgery on his hip, so the move to the 60-day IL was only a matter of time. The 31-year-old inked a two-year, $5.5 million deal with the Cardinals after spending the previous two seasons in Japan, and he struggled in his return to the majors with a 6.65 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and 18:14 K:BB across 21.2 innings.

James Naile - Returns to minorsNaile was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Friday.
ImpactNaile was called up as the 27th man for Thursday's doubleheader, so it's no surprise he's headed back to the minors. The 29-year-old didn't allow a baserunner over two-thirds of an inning Thursday and has given up only two hits with a 4:0 K:BB across six major-league frames overall this year.

Kramer Robertson - Claimed by St. LouisRobertson was claimed off waivers by the Cardinals and optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Friday.
ImpactRobertson was recently designated for assignment by the Mets and will now return to the Cardinals, with whom he began the season before also being designated for assignment in May. The 27-year-old has a .241/.400/.362 slash line with seven home runs, 30 RBI and 20 stolen bases across 73 Triple-A games this year, and he'll provide organizational infield depth for St. Louis after Edmundo Sosa was shipped off at the trade deadline.

Tommy Edman - Productive in nightcapEdman went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in a 7-2 win over the Cubs in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader.
ImpactEdman's been solid at the plate, but he hadn't recorded a three-hit game since June 14. He's picked up three steals, four RBI, eight runs scored and two doubles in his last 11 games, hitting .275 in that span. The versatile infielder is up to a .259/.324/.372 slash line with 22 stolen bases, seven home runs, 37 RBI, 69 runs scored, 18 doubles and three triples through 102 contests this season. He'll likely be back at second base more frequently since Paul DeJong has reclaimed a starting role at shortstop after getting recalled from Triple-A Memphis last Saturday. Nolan Gorman is also in the mix for starts at the keystone.
