Jack Flaherty - Another bullpen on tapFlaherty (oblique) will throw one more bullpen session before facing live hitters, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports.
ImpactThe right-hander has been sidelined since late May with a strained left oblique, and he won't be eligible to be activated from the 60-day injured list until the start of August. Flaherty could advance straight to rehab games after the next bullpen session, and he'll likely need a few starts in the minors to ramp up before rejoining the Cardinals.

Miles Mikolas - Starts rehab stint SaturdayMikolas (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment Saturday with Triple-A Memphis, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
ImpactThe right-hander threw 60 pitches of live batting practice Tuesday, which was the final step in his rehab before pitching in minor-league games. Mikolas has been on the shelf since late May while recovering from the forearm injury, and he's expected to make a handful of starts for Memphis while building up for his potential activation in mid-August.

Daniel Ponce de Leon - Beginning rehab ThursdayPonce de Leon (shoulder) will start a rehab assignment and throw an inning for Triple-A Memphis on Thursday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
ImpactA right shoulder injury has sidelined Ponce de Leon since June 23, at which point he had pitched to a 7.03 ERA in 24.1 innings this season. It's unclear how many appearances he'll make before being activated, but the Cardinals' desperate need for starting pitching suggests they'll stretch the 29-year-old out a bit to make him a viable option for the rotation.

Rafael Ortega - Gets leadoff nodOrtega will start in center field and bat leadoff Wednesday against the Cardinals.
ImpactWith Kris Bryant () on the bench, Ortega will remain in the lineup for the third straight game. Manager David Ross will shift catcher Willson Contreras down one spot in the order and give Ortega a look in the table-setting role, but the 30-year-old's career .292 on-base percentage makes him ill-fitted for those duties.
