That's presumably the reason he's out of Friday's lineup, though he hasn't been quite a true everyday player this season, so it may just be a routine day off. In either case, it will be Leury Garcia who starts at second base Friday.

Impact Garcia logged nearly a full game Wednesday after shortstop Danny Mendick (knee) made an early exit, but Thursday was Garcia's first start since June 17. He snapped an 0-for-14 skid at the plate with his hit in this contest. The versatile 31-year-old started in center field with Luis Robert (leg) and Adam Engel (hamstring) out of action. Most of Garcia's starts have come in the middle infield this year, but he play virtually all around the diamond as necessary to provide the White Sox with some flexibility. He's slashing .192/.207/.257 with two home runs, 12 RBI, 18 runs scored and a stolen base in 175 plate appearances this year.

Johnny Cueto - No support in loss Cueto (1-4) allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in 5.1 innings, taking the loss versus the Orioles on Thursday.
Impact Cueto was cruising until the fourth inning, when Adley Rutschman tagged him for a two-run home run. It was Rutschman who added a third run to Cueto's line with an RBI double in the sixth. While it wasn't a particularly sharp outing for the 36-year-old right-hander, he can't win if he doesn't get run support. He's allowed nine runs in 23.1 innings in his last four appearances, and he's got a solid 3.19 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 40:12 K:BB in 48 innings overall. Cueto is in line for a road start versus the Angels next week.
