Liam Hendriks - Throws live batting practiceHendriks (illness) threw a successful round of live batting practice Friday in Detroit, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Impact"His numbers were really good," manager Pedro Grifol said of Hendriks' velocity readings during the workout. "He ticked up from Cleveland. Really good step in the right direction." The veteran closer now has three live batting practice sessions under his belt since a mostly underwhelming six-appearance rehab stint with Triple-A Charlotte. Recovered from an offseason diagnosis of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Hendriks could make a triumphant return to the White Sox bullpen at some point this weekend.

ImpactIt was his first time throwing off a mound since he suffered a right foot fractured back in mid-April. Manning is on the 60-day injured list and not eligible to return until mid-June.

Beau Brieske - Throws live batting practiceBrieske (elbow) threw a live batting practice session earlier this week, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

ImpactBrieske came out of it well and is slated for another live BP on Saturday. He's been out all season following a nerve hydrodissection procedure on his right elbow in April but would seem to be nearing a rehab assignment.

Kerry Carpenter - Cleared for rehab gamesCarpenter (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment Friday with Triple-A Toledo, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

ImpactCarpenter has been on the shelf since late April due to a right shoulder strain and some subsequent complications, but he's ready again for live competition and could be back with the Tigers sometime next week. The 25-year-old had produced a respectable .744 OPS with four home runs through 20 games for Detroit prior to the IL stint.
