Lenyn Sosa - To open year at Triple-ASosa was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.
ImpactSosa is on the 40-man roster and made his big-league debut in 2022, but more development is needed in the upper levels of the minors. Chicago brought in veteran Elvis Andrus to serve as a placeholder at the keystone, with Sosa and Jose Rodriguez the most intriguing internal long-term options behind him.

ImpactPerez was in camp as the third catcher, but he will predictably open the year at Triple-A. Seby Zavala is set to serve as the backup to Yasmani Grandal.

Adrian Morejon - Exits with arm discomfortMorejon left Sunday's game against the Athletics with discomfort in the back of his arm, above his elbow, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
ImpactThis is unfortunately all too familiar for Morejon, who has never topped 65.1 innings in a season despite the fact the Padres have continued to try developing him as a starting pitcher. He should be considered out indefinitely and any hopes of him breaking camp in the big-league rotation are likely dashed.

Fernando Tatis Jr. - Should play MondayTatis (bruised knee) should be able to return to action Monday, likely as the designated hitter, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
ImpactThere was some concern after Tatis was listed in Sunday's lineup and was then scratched after suffering a bruised knee Saturday, but apparently his inclusion on Sunday's lineup was an error -- he was never meant to be in the lineup. Either way, it's a day-to-day issue and shouldn't affect his availability to play in late April once the remainder of his suspension is served.

Fernando Tatis Jr. - Scratched with knee bruiseTatis (suspension) was scratched from Sunday's Cactus League lineup against Oakland due to a left knee bruise, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
ImpactThe Padres say Tatis' removal from the starting nine is a precautionary measure after he was struck in the knee by an errant pickoff throw Saturday. The 24-year-old should be considered day-to-day for now since it doesn't appear to be a serious concern.
