Back on injured list Yelich (back) landed back on the injured list Tuesday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Impact Yelich appeared to be just fine in his return from the injured list Monday, grabbing a pair of hits. He wasn't included in Tuesday's lineup, but that initially appeared to be simply a case of the Brewers trying to avoid overworking him immediately after his return. As it turns out, his back issue is still bothering him enough that the Brewers believe it's best for him to sit for at least 10 more days. Whether or not he'll return when first eligible May 14 remains to be seen. Tyrone Taylor was recalled in a corresponding move.

Impact Yelich returned from back soreness Monday and grabbed a pair of hits, but the Brewers don't want him starting on back-to-back days right away. It shouldn't be too long before he resumes his normal workload, but he may need a few more off days than normal in the near future. Pablo Reyes will be the left fielder in his absence Tuesday.

Impact Yelich smoked a single to left center in his first at-bat since being placed on the injured list April 11 with a back injury, and he followed that up with an infield single in the eighth that left the bat at 106.4 mph. Yelich is now 12-for-34 with a double, an RBI and two stolen bases in 10 games this season.

Impact Yelich appeared in just nine games this season before being shut down with back issues. He'd managed just one extra-base hit in those nine games but was still hitting .333 despite a career-worst 32.4 percent strikeout rate, with a .556 BABIP deserving much of the credit. Nine games isn't much of a sample, however, so the Brewers will be hoping he can get back to MVP form going forward. Keston Hiura was optioned in a corresponding move.

Hits in simulated game Yelich (back) took at-bats in a simulated game Thursday at American Family Field, Jeff Levering of the Brewers Radio Network reports.

Impact As Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel notes, Yelich had been restricted to hitting out of a batting cage since landing on the injured list April 17, so his return to the field Thursday represents a fairly significant step forward in the recovery process. In addition to seeing that Yelich can take at-bats without discomfort, the Brewers will likely want to ensure the 2018 NL MVP can play the outfield and run the bases at 100 percent before activating him. He could have a chance to make it back from the IL at some point during the Brewers' four-game series with the Dodgers, which begins Thursday.
