Impact Yelich hasn't appeared in any capacity since leaving early in Sunday's game against the Cardinals due to a sore back, though the fact that he's still yet to be placed on the injured list seemingly suggests that the Brewers don't expect him to miss too much more time. It's no surprise that he'll miss at least one more game, though, as Will Sammon of The Athletic reports Yelich only just resumed baseball activities Thursday. Billy McKinney will get the nod in left field Friday.

Impact Manager Craig Counsell said that he continues to view Yelich as day-to-day while he contends with a sore back. The injury will end up sidelining Yelich for the Brewers' entire three-game series with the Cubs, but the team appears to have some hope that the outfielder could be good to go for the weekend following an off day Thursday.

Impact 2021 is already off to a better start for Yelich than last season when he recorded only one hit in his first six games. A dominant spring training and strong Opening Day indicate that Yelich is primed to prove 2020 was an outlier and return to his 2018-19 form. Yelich doesn't have a ton of protection in Milwaukee's fluid, platoon-heavy lineup, but there are competent enough options to hit behind him that pitchers can't completely avoid the 2018 NL MVP.
