Lane Thomas - Headed to Cleveland The Nationals traded Thomas on Monday to the Guardians in exchange for left-hander Alex Clemmey and infielders Jose Tena and Rafael Ramirez, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. Impact The Guardians will get a right-handed bat in Thomas, who is batting .326 against southpaws this season. He also brings plenty of speed with 28 swipes, though he has been caught stealing 12 times, which leads the majors, and he figures to into the starting job in right field ahead of Will Brennan, who has gone hitless over his last nine outings. Thomas is under Cleveland's control through 2025, with this upcoming winter being the final time he is eligible for arbitration, per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. Since the beginning of July, Thomas has slashed .287/.398/.379 with 11 stolen bases, eight doubles and six RBI across 100 plate appearances.
