Austin Meadows - No contact with teamTigers president of baseball operations Scott Harris said Monday that he hasn't talked with Meadows (personal) "in a few months," Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
ImpactMeadows hasn't played anywhere since early April, as he's been away from the team for several months while dealing with anxiety. "We're going to explore what the path forward is," Harris said. "I don't have any answers on that. I hope he's doing well. I've got to reconnect with him. That's going to be a priority for us in October." Meadows is eligible for salary arbitration for a final time this offseason but seems likely to be non-tendered. He will turn 29 in May.

Spencer Turnbull - Will compete for rotation jobTigers president of baseball operations Scott Harris said Monday that he expects Turnbull to compete for a job in the rotation next spring, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
ImpactTurnbull missed all of the 2022 season following Tommy John surgery and suffered through a lost 2023 campaign. He was limited to just 15 starts this year due to neck and toe injuries and, when healthy, didn't pitch well either in the majors (7.26 ERA) or minors (6.23 ERA). Turnbull ended the season healthy at Triple-A Toledo, though, and should have a normal offseason. It's possible Turnbull could have been seen as a non-tender candidate, but it sounds like the Tigers plan to keep him around and hope he can bounce back in his walk year.

Cam Gallagher - Limited role in final monthGallagher played in just eight games in September, going 1-for-20 (.050).
ImpactGallagher's usage declined with Bo Naylor earning the starting role behind the dish and David Fry settling in as backup. Over 149 plate appearances this season, Gallagher slashed a terrible .126/.154/.168 with six doubles, seven RBI, six runs scored and no home runs. He's still a fine defensive catcher, but there's likely little future for him in Cleveland.

Enyel De Los Santos - Emerges as reliable relieverDe Los Santos finished the season tied for 18th in the majors with 70 appearances.
ImpactDe Los Santos was a trusted part of the Guardians' bullpen throughout the year, though he wavered with a 5.59 ERA in September. He tossed a scoreless inning in Sunday's season-ending 5-2 loss to the Tigers. Overall, De Los Santos posted a 3.29 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 62:25 K:BB over 65.2 innings while adding 16 holds, a 5-2 record and three blown saves. With Emmanuel Clase in place as closer, De Los Santos is unlikely to see ninth-inning assignments often as long as he remains with Cleveland.

Nick Sandlin - Ends year in shaky formSandlin allowed five runs over his last 9.2 innings this season.
ImpactSandlin got shuffled out of the high-leverage mix when the Guardians bolstered their bullpen with waiver claims at the end of August. He picked up 10 holds this year, two of which came in September. The right-hander finished the campaign with a 3.75 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 66:24 K:BB over 60 innings, and he also registered a 5-5 record in 61 appearances.

Tyler Freeman - Goes deep in lossFreeman went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Tigers.
ImpactFreeman homered twice over his last four games of the season, giving him four long balls on the year. The infielder also posted a .242/.295/.366 slash line over 168 plate appearances. He added 18 RBI, 20 runs scored and five stolen bases, and he should have a chance to compete for a larger role in spring training next year.
