Josh Taylor - Closing in on live workTaylor (bicep) resumed a normal throwing progression in July and appears close to beginning live bullpen sessions, MLB.com reports.
ImpactTaylor has been on the injured list all season due to left bicep soreness, an injury that cropped up while he was warming up for a March 17 Cactus League appearance. The lefty was later diagnosed with a musculocutaneous nerve injury that kept him from throwing for about four months, but he seems to have avoided any setbacks since he resumed playing catch. The Royals are still optimistic that Taylor can return from the IL before the end of the season, but he'll likely need to start facing hitters within the next week or two for that to be a reality.

Michael Lorenzen - Recovering from Grade 2 strainLorenzen was diagnosed with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain after undergoing an MRI on Wednesday, MLB.com reports.
ImpactThe Royals placed Lorenzen on the 15-day injured list that same day due to the hamstring strain, which carries a 2-to-3-week recovery timetable. Lorenzen will be able to keep his arm in shape by playing catch while he's on the mend from the injury, but he'll need time for the muscle in his right leg to heal before he's able to step back on the mound for a bullpen session. Alec Marsh was called up from Triple-A Omaha on Sunday to replace Lorenzen in the rotation.

Vinnie Pasquantino - Getting surgery for thumbPasquantino said that he hopes to undergo surgery Tuesday for his fractured right thumb, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.
ImpactAssuming no other hand injury was uncovered during Pasquantino's thumb surgery, he'll face a 6-to-8-week recovery timeline. When speaking to the media Monday, Pasquantino said that in his mind, his season is not over, but even if the Royals make a deep playoff run, the coaching staff may not be keen in reintegrating him after a long absence. After his 2023 campaign was cut short to labrum surgery of his non-throwing shoulder, Pasquantino enjoyed a productive comeback season before suffering the fractured thumb last week, slashing .262/.315/.446 with 19 home runs, 97 RBI, 64 runs and one stolen base across 554 plate appearances.
