ImpactCanning has gradually been raising his pitch count as he works his way toward a return from the lower back stress fracture he suffered last July. The right-hander was initially expected to be ready for Opening Day but has been delayed by a setback that he endured early this spring. Canning has been on a Tuesday/Friday throwing schedule, and he will follow that again this week, possibly upping his pitch count to 35 this Friday, per Blum.

ImpactOviedo was designated for assignment by the Pirates last week and will now join the Guardians. He appeared in 22 games for Pittsburgh in 2021 and struggled with a 8.80 ERA, 1.99 WHIP and 31:26 K:BB over 29.2 innings. He'll likely report to the Double-A or Triple-A level with his new organization.
