Jhonkensy Noel - Plenty of homers, strikeoutsNoel has hit 19 homers in 62 games for High-A Lake County this year, but he's also batting .219 with a 31.7 percent strikeout rate and a 7.3 percent walk rate.

ImpactWhile Noel is on close to a 50-homer pace over a 162-game season, he's been striking out more than we've ever seen from him in the past -- including at this same level last year. Noel gained some hype last season after hitting .340 with a 1.005 OPS across three levels of the minors, but that stat line was buoyed by the highly fortunate .421 BABIP he put up while batting .393 in Low-A. He'll need to adjust his approach to become a useful big leaguer, particularly because Noel looks like he may be limited to first base defensively.

ImpactThe good news for Martin is that he's drawing walks at a solid clip and limiting his strikeouts while running surprisingly effectively. The bad news, of course, is that he's hitting the ball with precious little authority. Even while he's warmed up a bit lately, posting a five-game hitting streak, it's been all singles. Widely considered the best pure hitter in the 2020 draft class, Martin hasn't really lived up to that billing yet in the pros. Considering that he's a college bat who's now 23 years old, the clock is ticking for him to start performing up to expectations. If he doesn't turn things around this season, his prospect status will take a major hit.

Nick Gordon - Accounts for only run in winGordon went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Thursday in a 1-0 victory versus Cleveland.

ImpactGordon smashed a 422-foot solo shot in the third inning that held up as the only run of the contest to give Minnesota the win. The long ball was just his second of the season and his first since May 29. Gordon doesn't have much power, but he's hit pretty well in June with a .289 average over 38 at-bats.

Caleb Thielbar - Notches first career saveThielbar earned a save over the Guardians on Thursday, allowing one hit and striking out one batter over two-thirds of an inning.

ImpactTeam saves leader Emilio Pagan wasn't used after throwing 41 pitches and allowing five runs over two innings during the previous two days, and Jhoan Duran -- who has four saves on the campaign -- was deployed against the top of Cleveland's order in the eighth frame. Minnesota thus turned to the southpaw Thielbar to face lefty Andres Gimenez with one out in the ninth, and the latter knocked a two-strike double to move into scoring position. Thielbar was able to bounce back, however, retiring the next two batters to pick up the first save of his big-league career. Despite striking out 33 batters over 25.1 innings this season, Thielbar's 6.04 ERA and 1.42 WHIP make it unlikely that he'll see many more ninth-inning chances moving forward.
