Luis Severino - Ready for 2021 debutThe Yankees reinstated Severino (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Monday.
ImpactSeverino's next appearance for the Yankees will be his first since the 2019 postseason, after he missed nearly all of the subsequent two seasons while recovering from Tommy John surgery. In recent months, his season debut with the big club has been delayed by setbacks with a strained groin and a stiff right shoulder, but he was finally activated after he checked out fine during a simulated game over the weekend. Because he hasn't had time to fully ramp up, Severino will be limited to a bullpen role for the rest of the 2021 campaign. The Yankees will presumably look to bring Severino back as a member of the rotation in 2022.

Owen Miller - Gets third start in four gamesMiller will start at second base and bat sixth in the first game of Monday's doubleheader with the Royals.
ImpactMiller will pick up his third start in four games after he went 2-for-7 with a walk, a run and an RBI in Cleveland's series victory over the Yankees this past weekend. Both Miller and Yu Chang -- who will sit out the front end of the twin bill -- should benefit from increased opportunities in the infield while Amed Rosario (personal) is on the bereavement list.

Yu Chang - Retreats to benchChang is out of the lineup for the first game of Monday's doubleheader with the Royals.
ImpactAfter starting in four of the past five games while going 5-for-19 with a home run and a double, Chang will cede his spot in the Cleveland infield to Owen Miller. Chang should continue to play regularly versus left-handed pitching over the final two weeks of the season, but his path to steady at-bats versus right-handers will become more muddled when or if Amed Rosario (personal) returns from the bereavement list.

Austin Hedges - Starting Game 1 of twin billHedges will start at catcher and bat eighth in the first game of Monday's doubleheader with the Royals.
ImpactSince Cleveland brought back Roberto Perez from the injured list last week, Hedges has fallen back into a near-even timeshare at catcher. The two backstops have now alternated starts across the last seven contests, and that trend should continue in the nightcap, when Perez presumably gets the nod over Hedges.
