Yields three runs in win Quantrill (8-8) allowed three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings to earn the win over the Padres.

Impact Quantrill was scratched from a start earlier in the week due to forearm soreness. It doesn't appear to be a lingering issue at this point, as he threw 92 pitches Friday, though he gave up two home runs to Ha-Seong Kim and Xander Bogaerts. Quantrill hasn't pitched into the sixth inning in three starts, giving up 13 runs over 13 innings in that span. He's now at a 4.59 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 97:50 K:BB through 127.1 innings over 24 starts this season. The right-hander is projected to make his next start on the road versus the Nationals.

Activated from 60-day IL The Rockies activated Gilbreath (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Friday, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.

Impact Gilbreath has been rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent in March of 2023. When he appears in a game for the Rockies, it will be his first at the major-league level since June of 2022.

Impact The switch-hitting Romo earned his first big-league promotion after hitting .297/.339/.499 with 14 home runs and three stolen bases over 85 games this season with Albuquerque. He and Jacob Stallings will form the Rockies' catching duo down the stretch following the release of Elias Diaz.

Poised for big-league promotion The Rockies are expected to call up Romo from Triple-A Albuquerque prior to Friday's game against the Padres, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Impact Romo, who turns 23 later this month, has slashed .297/.339/.499 with 14 home runs and three stolen bases over 85 games this season with Albuquerque. With Elias Diaz expected to be released, the switch-hitting Romo will at least share catching duties with Jacob Stallings and could receive the bulk of the reps behind the plate.

Impact It was reported earlier this week that Diaz had been placed on outright waivers, and now it appears the Rockies will cut him loose after he went unclaimed. He's hitting just .196/.250/.268 since the All-Star break, but there will surely be interest in him once he can be had at the prorated minimum salary. Drew Romo is expected to be called up to take Diaz's roster spot.

Impact Pint will head back to the minors after surrendering four earned runs in just two-thirds of an inning Wednesday against Arizona. He owns a 3.10 ERA through 29 frames in Triple-A and could still be an option to return to Colorado's bullpen later in the season, but he'll likely need to turn in some positive results in the minors first.

Impact After slashing .270/.315/.378 with 36 RBI across 327 plate appearances, Diaz is now available for any team willing to pay the remaining $1.5 million on his contract. If he goes unclaimed, the Rockies may keep him on the active roster or outright him to Triple-A Albuquerque, at which point Diaz would have the right to reject the assignment and enter free agency.

Gordon walked in a run before being relieved by Peter Lambert, who induced a groundout to limit the damage to four runs. The 26-year-old Gordon uncharacteristically struggled with control Wednesday, throwing 24 of his 44 pitches for strikes and logging a 0:2 K:BB, a far-cry from his 23:3 K:BB in five previous starts this season.
