Activated, optioned to Triple-A The Rockies reinstated Bird (groin) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday and optioned him to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Impact Bird has been on the injured list since June 26 due to a right groin strain. He's since thrown one rehab inning in Triple-A, surrendering three hits but allowing none to score, and he'll remain with the Isotopes now that he's fully recovered. The 28-year-old righty owns a 6.26 ERA and 1.87 WHIP in 23 MLB innings, so he'll likely need to show consistent success in the minors before he's invited back into the Rockies' bullpen.

Out against right-hander Blackmon is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Cincinnati.

Impact It wasn't a surprise to see Blackmon sitting out Tuesday's game with a lefty on the mound, but it's a bit surprising he's on the bench again Wednesday against right-hander Frankie Montas. The Rockies are giving Brenton Doyle a start at designated hitter while Sam Hilliard patrols center field.

Impact Toglia continued his surge in power, as he's delivered seven home runs across his last 23 games. He's also tacked on 15 RBI and 13 runs scored in that span, though he's struck out at a 28.7 percent clip and is hitting just .207. Despite the mixed results, Toglia has started 31 straight games and is locked into playing time at first base.

Impact The 26-year-old has been an absolute beast since slumping to a .223/.245/.298 slash line in June. Through eight games in July, Doyle has five multi-hit performances, five doubles, six homers and 11 RBI while batting .556 (15-for-27). The surge has boosted his OPS on the season to .813, and with 13 homers and 20 steals through 87 games, Doyle might have a shot at becoming the first Rockie to post a 30-30 season since Hall of Famer Larry Walker accomplished the feat in 1997.

Hit hard by Cincy Quantrill (6-7) took the loss Tuesday as the Rockies fell 12-6 to the Reds, giving up five runs on four hits and a walk over two innings. He struck out four.

Impact Three of the four hits off the right-hander went for extra bases, including homers by Tyler Stephenson and Will Benson in the second inning. Quantrill has been taken deep five times in his last two road starts, so even being away from Coors Field isn't offering much of a respite for him. Over his last five outings he's saddled with a 6.94 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 22:9 K:BB through 23.1 innings. Quantrill will try to turn things around in his last start before the All-Star break, which is scheduled to come on the road against the Mets this weekend.

Cleared for rehab assignment Bird (groin) was sent to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment.

Impact Bird has been out since late June with a groin strain, but he resumed throwing a few days ago and is now ready to test things out in a game setting. The reliever shouldn't need many rehab appearances since he hasn't missed much time, but with the All-Star break looming the Rockies could choose to hold him out until the second half.

Sent out on rehab assignment Rogers (shoulder) was sent to the Rockies' Arizona Complex League affiliate Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment.

Impact Rogers has been sidelined since mid-June with a left rotator cuff strain but has been cleared to pitch in games again. He should be ready to return shortly after the All-Star break, although Rogers wouldn't seem to be a given to rejoin the big-league roster at that point.

Black suggested that Marquez will make one more rehab start with Hartford on Tuesday, and if all goes well, the right-hander's next outing will likely come with the big club. Marquez would line up for a start during the Rockies' final game before the All-Star break Sunday versus the Mets, but the organization may be more inclined to give him some extra time to recover from Tuesday's outing and wait until after the break before activating him from the 60-day injured list.
