Gabriel Hughes - Facing hitters again Hughes (elbow) is scheduled to face hitters in live batting practice Tuesday at the Rockies' spring training facility in Arizona, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Impact Hughes will throw approximately 25 pitches while mixing fastballs and changeups in what marks his first time facing hitters since he underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow last July. The 22-year-old right-hander resides on Double-A Hartford's 60-day injured list and is unlikely to pitch in the minors this season, though he could be cleared for action in the Arizona Fall League.

Jordan Beck - Recalled by Colorado The Rockies recalled Beck from Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Impact Beck was with the Rockies earlier in the season, and he was batting .190 across 81 plate appearances before landing on the injured list in late May after fracturing his left hand while attempting a diving catch in the outfield. He began his rehab assignment in late July and stayed in Triple-A after being reinstated from the IL on Aug. 3. Beck is slashing .319/.402/.558 with eight home runs and 35 RBI across 189 plate appearances for Albuquerque this season, and the 23-year-old will provide depth in the Rockies' outfield after Kris Bryant was placed on the 10-day IL with a back injury.

Josh Rogers - Optioned to Triple-A The Rockies optioned Rogers to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Impact Rogers' latest stint in the majors lasted just one day, as he allowed one run over 1.2 innings in a relief appearance Sunday versus Atlanta. He's clearing out to make room on the roster for Bradley Blalock, who will start Monday's game in Arizona.

Impact With Cal Quantrill dealing with general forearm soreness, German Marquez (elbow) out for the season and Ryan Feltner (shoulder) and Dakota Hudson (eblow) both on the 15-day injured list, the Rockies were slim on options in their starting rotation and have opted to call up Blalock from Hartford. Blalock was acquired by Colorado in late July as part of the package for right-hander Nick Mears. Blalock is 5-3 across 18 starts in Double-A this season with a 4.36 ERA and 1.32 WHIP across 86.2 innings. He appeared in one game for the Brewers out of the bullpen in June, and his start Monday will be the first of his major-league career.

Impact It marks the third time this season that Bryant has landed on the injured list, and the second instance it has been due to a back injury. Since coming off his last stint on the IL on July 23 due to a left oblique strain, Bryant has slashed .277/.352/.340 with five RBI and a 31.5 percent strikeout rate across 53 plate appearances. With Bryant on the shelf, the Rockies recalled outfielder Jordan Beck from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move.
