Elias Díaz - Placed on waiversThe Rockies placed Diaz on outright waivers Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
ImpactAfter slashing .270/.315/.378 with 36 RBI across 327 plate appearances, Diaz is now available for any team willing to pay the remaining $1.5 million on his contract. If he goes unclaimed, the Rockies may keep him on the active roster or outright him to Triple-A Albuquerque, at which point Diaz would have the right to reject the assignment and enter free agency.

Joc Pederson - Drives in two, scores twicePederson went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over the Rockies.
ImpactPederson set the tone for the Diamondbacks in the 11-4 victory, opening the scoring with a two-run double in the first inning. The 32-year-old has started 8-of-12 games in August as he continues to platoon with Randal Grichuk. Pederson has excelled in August, batting .324 with four home runs, 10 RBI, nine runs scored and a 6:9 BB:K in 37 plate appearances.

Eugenio Suárez - Belts grand slam, two doublesSuarez went 3-for-4 with a grand slam, two doubles and an additional RBI in Wednesday's win against the Rockies.
ImpactSuarez smacked two doubles before taking Rockies reliever Riley Pint deep in the sixth inning to record the fourth grand slam of his career. Suarez matched his season-best with five RBI, the third time this season he has reached that mark. The 33-year-old is now up to 18 home runs, 69 RBI and 58 runs scored with a .234 batting average in 118 games played.

Jordan Montgomery - Racks up eight K's in winMontgomery (8-6) picked up the win Wednesday against Colorado, allowing three earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out eight in six innings.
ImpactMontgomery had one of his best starts of the season Wednesday, notching his first quality start since June 21 while registering a season-high eight punch outs. While Wednesday's outing was encouraging, the 31-year-old will need to clean up his control to become more consistent -- Montgomery has now issued multiple free passes in four-consecutive starts and his 3.46 BB/9 this season is a far-cry from his career mark of 2.57. The southpaw owns an ugly 6.25 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 63:35 K:BB across 89.1 innings (18 starts) this season. Montgomery will look to build momentum in his next scheduled start, a favorable matchup in Miami early next week.

Tanner Gordon - Pulled in first inning, takes lossGordon (0-4) took the loss Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits and two walks in two-thirds of an inning. He did not record a strikeo...
ImpactGordon failed to make it through a disastrous first inning that included two errors by the Rockies defense. Gordon walked in a run before being relieved by Peter Lambert, who induced a groundout to limit the damage to four runs. The 26-year-old Gordon uncharacteristically struggled with control Wednesday, throwing 24 of his 44 pitches for strikes and logging a 0:2 K:BB, a far-cry from his 23:3 K:BB in five previous starts this season. The right-hander will look to improve upon his 7.00 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in his next start, currently scheduled for next week against the Nationals.
