Vinnie Pasquantino - Gets Monday offPasquantino is out of the lineup for Monday's game in Miami.
ImpactAfter going 0-for-10 with two walks in the Royals' weekend series with the Rockies, Pasquantino will get a mental day off in the series opener with the Marlins. Nick Pratto will pick up the start at first base, while shortstop Bobby Witt gets a day out of the field and serves as the Royals' designated hitter.

Aroldis Chapman - Back in actionChapman (knee) struck out two in a perfect inning during Sunday's 2-0 win over the Rockies.
ImpactChapman was bothered by a knee issue last week, but he appears fine now. He has a save and three holds while allowing just one run over his last 7.2 innings with a 14:8 K:BB in that span. The southpaw continues to primarily serve as the setup man to Scott Barlow, though the Royals' overall struggles have limited save chances so far. Chapman has a 2.95 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB with two saves and seven holds over 21.1 innings.

Sterlin Thompson - Back in action for SpokaneThompson (undisclosed) returned to action for High-A Spokane on June 2 and has hit .438 with four home runs over an eight-game hit streak.
ImpactHe is still listed as being on the 7-day injured list, but he has played in the last three games for Spokane, so it seems like a data error on MiLB.com. This hit streak dates back to before the injury, and Thompson, who transitioned from the outfield to third base this year, has a .438/.489/.763 slash line with five home runs, five steals, an 8.7 percent strikeout rate and a .435 BABIP in 21 games.

MLB Power Rankings: What was every team’s best offseason move?
Dinelson Lamet - Gets another startLamet is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Giants at Coors Field.
ImpactIn his return from the 15-day injured list last Wednesday for his first MLB start since 2021, Lamet lasted just three innings in a loss to Arizona, surrendering five earned runs on seven hits. On a positive note, Lamet carried over the improved control he showcased during his three-start rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque, issuing no walks while striking out four. The Rockies saw enough positives from Lamet in the outing and have few attractive alternatives available for the rotation, so the right-hander will get another opportunity to try and deliver better results Tuesday.

Scott Barlow - Locks down seventh saveBarlow pitched a scoreless ninth to get the save Sunday over the Rockies, allowing two hits and striking out the side.
ImpactBarlow was able to work around two base hits by striking out the side to pick up the save. Due to the Royals' struggles, it was Barlow's first save since May 17, though it was his fifth appearance since then. The 30-year-old has been dependable overall with his closing duties, registering a 3.52 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 33:11 K:BB over 23 innings.

Brady Singer - Dominates Colorado over 5.2 inningsSinger (4-4) shut out the Rockies over 5.2 innings Sunday, allowing just five hits and no walks while striking out seven.
ImpactSinger did not allow an extra base hit and did now allow a single runner to get into scoring position. The 26-year-old did not walk a batter for the first time since April 25 and his seven strikeouts were his most in a start since April 14. Singer has allowed two earned runs or less in four of his last five starts and now sits at a 6.45 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 56:23 K:BB over 60 innings. He'll look to pick up another win in a tentative matchup against the Orioles next weekend.
