Miguel Rojas - Gets in swings during BPRojas (finger) took part in the Marlins' batting practice session prior to Thursday's game against the Rockies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
ImpactAfter hitting off a tee two days earlier, Rojas took the next step forward in his recovery from a fractured left finger by taking full swings against soft-toss pitching. The fact that the injury is to Rojas' non-throwing hand will likely put him in store for a shorter rehab program, but the Marlins may still want to see him play in a rehab game or two at Triple-A Jacksonville before reinstating him from the 10-day injured list. Jazz Chisholm will continue to fill in at shortstop while Rojas is on the mend.

Jon Gray - Increases flat-ground distanceRockies manager Bud Black said Gray (elbow) will play catch from 90-to-100 feet Thursday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
ImpactGray is initiating his throwing program just under a week after he was pulled from his start against the Athletics with a right flexor strain. The injury appears to be mild, and the right-hander looks on track to return from the injured list shortly after he's first eligible to return July 15. Black said the Rockies plan to have Gray ramp up the intensity of his throwing program over the weekend, when the right-hander will presumably advance to pitching off a mound and facing hitters in live batting practice.

Jordan Sheffield - Slated to miss extended timeSheffield (lat) is expected to miss extended time but will likely return at some point later in the season, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
ImpactSheffield landed on the 10-day injured list due to a right lat strain Saturday, and he's apparently dealing with a serious injury. A timetable for his recovery process hasn't yet been established, but manager Bud Black indicated the right-hander's rehab will take some time.

Brendan Rodgers - Takes seat in Story's returnRodgers is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins, AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain reports.
ImpactWith Trevor Story (elbow) returning from the injured list Thursday, Rodgers' time as the Rockies' top shortstop has come to an end. The 2015 first-round pick has played on a near-everyday basis since making his return from a hamstring injury May 21, delivering a .250 average with one home run, eight RBI and two runs in 16 games. Rodgers will likely lose out on reps now that Story is back in the fold, but he should still compete for playing at second base with Ryan McMahon and Garrett Hampson.
