Austin Gomber - Making spring debut WednesdayGomber (back) is slated to start Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Angels, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
ImpactHe's expected to work two innings before turning the game over to a cadre of relievers. Gomber didn't make any appearances after Aug. 28 last season due to lower-back inflammation, but he seems to have received a clean bill of health heading into spring training. After agreeing to a one-year, $3.15 million deal with the Rockies in the offseason to avoid arbitration, Gomber's rotation spot should be fairly secure heading into Opening Day.

ImpactHill was selected in the second round of the 2021 draft but did not make his debut until 2022 due to recovery from Tommy John surgery. He worked as a starter thereafter and reached High-A Spokane in 2023, but the Rockies ultimately decided to shift him to a relief role during the Arizona Fall League. With a fastball that regularly hits 99 and 100 mph, Hill has the potential to work in a high-leverage role at some point in his professional career.
