Drives in four Cowser went 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Red Sox.

Impact Cowser drove in the Orioles' first three runs Tuesday, driving in Cedric Mullins with a two-out double in the second inning before adding two more RBI with a second two-bagger in the fourth. Cowser would add a fifth RBI with a sacrifice fly in the eighth. The 24-year-old outfield has started over Austin Hays in three of Baltimore's last four games against right-handed pitching. Cowser's certainly run with the opportunity, going 7-for-15 with four doubles to start the year. After a rough showing in his first big-league stint last season, Cowser is starting to show why he was regarded as one of the top prospects in a loaded Orioles' system.

Likely to make roster Cowser is expected to make the Orioles' major-league roster after the team sent down Heston Kjerstad and Kyle Stowers on Friday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Impact Cowser certainly earned the spot, slashing .325/.449/.725 through 16 Grapefruit League games. Even with that impressive sample, Cowser likely doesn't have a clear path to everyday at-bats to begin the season. He figures to be an extra outfielder, though if he can carry his spring hitting into the regular season, he could eventually force his way into a strong-side platoon job.

Impact Cowser was brought up from Triple-A as rosters expanded to 28 on Friday, but he'll head back down to the minors as Aaron Hicks (back) returns from the injured list. The 23-year-old outfielder is slashing just .115/.286/.148 in the majors and likely would only return to the majors this season for depth purposes.

Impact Cowser remains one of Baltimore's top prospects, but he posted only a .434 OPS over his first 77 plate appearances at the big-league level, so Baltimore decided to send him back to the minors to open up a roster spot for the returning Aaron Hicks. Cowser owns a .996 OPS at the Triple-A level this year, so if he can get back on track at the plate he could rejoin the Orioles before the campaign comes to a close.
