Consequently, the job could be Pache's to lose to open 2022, barring injury or any unforeseen concerns that pop up.

Impact Pache appeared to have the chance to push for a temporary starting role in Atlanta while Ronald Acuna recovers from a torn ACL, though he could have a similar opportunity in Oakland with Ramon Laureano suspended for roughly the first month of the year. While there could be at-bats available, it's unclear if Pache is the favorite to win them, as he owns an uninspiring .119/.157/.209 slash line in 72 major-league plate appearances. He's still just 23 years old and has a very strong defensive reputation, but his bat needs a lot of development for him to be an interesting fantasy option even if he does wind up starting early in the year.
