Impact Blanco got to make his major-league debut at age 29 last month but was used infrequently in his two weeks with the team. He went 2-for-7 at the plate across five games before being designated for assignment Friday. While he could return the next time the Royals need another outfielder, the fact that he's no longer on the 40-man roster may prevent him from being the top choice.

Impact Blanco ran for Salvador Perez in the ninth inning and stole second base with two outs. In his five games at the major-league level, Blanco has made only two starts while Michael Taylor and Kyle Isbel are on the COVID-19 injured list. As such, Blanco's playing time is likely to be limited even while the Royals' outfield is a bit shorthanded -- he'll likely be limited to a bench role as he was Saturday.
