Pitching with Japanese team Keuchel signed a contract with the Lotte Marines of Nippon Professional baseball on July 30, The Mainichi reports.
Impact Keuchel has made two starts already for the Marines, most recently tossing seven shutout innings in his last outing. The veteran left-hander reached the majors with the Brewers earlier this season, posting a 5.40 ERA and 11:8 K:BB over 16.2 frames in four starts. Keuchel is now 36 and is unlikely to be an impact player in the majors again, but he's not ready to call it a career just yet.

The 36-year-old southpaw will most likely clear waivers, though it's unclear if he'll be willing to report to the Brewers' Triple-A affiliate in Nashville thereafter, as he could prefer to elect free agency and explore his options on the open market. The Brewers won't need another No. 5 starter to replace Keuchel until July 24, at which time Joe Ross (back) might be ready to return from the 60-day injured list.
