Lands MiLB deal with Washington Mengden signed a minor-league contract with the Nationals on Sunday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Impact Mengden began the season on a minor-league deal with the Royals, and he posted a 7.36 ERA and 1.90 WHIP in 14.2 innings over six appearances (three starts) at Triple-A Omaha before being released in late June. However, the 30-year-old was able to land a new contract a few days later.

Impact Mengden joined the major-league roster as a replacement player after Joel Payamps (illness) landed on the COVID-19 injured list, but he'll head back to the minors after Payamps was activated Saturday. Mengden made four relief appearances during his time in the majors, and he posted a 2.08 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with one save in 4.1 innings.
