Secures NRI from LAD Bote signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Saturday and received an invitation to spring training, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Impact Bote made the most of limited opportunities with the Cubs last year, going 14-for-46 at the plate with six RBI in 37 games, and he also put up an .887 OPS over 123 plate appearances in Triple-A. He'll now compete for a spot on the Dodgers' Opening Day roster, but at the very least he should serve as a quality organizational depth piece at Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Impact Bote was designated for assignment by Chicago on Friday, but he'll stick in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 31-year-old had a respectable .304/.333/.391 slash line in 37 games before being booted off the Cubs' 40-man roster, but he recorded just four at-bats in August.

Impact Bote hasn't started a game for Chicago since July 28 and has netted merely four at-bats since then. While the Cubs have struggled to find a spot in the lineup for the 31-year-old, he's been successful when given an opportunity, slashing .301/.333/.391 in 48 plate appearances this season. His spot on the 26-man roster is expected to go to Luis Vazquez while Gavin Hollowell -- who was claimed off waivers from Arizona -- takes Bote's spot on the 40-man roster. The utility player should garner some interest on waivers.
