Impact Evans was called up earlier in the day and made his season debut Tuesday. The 24-year-old bullpen prospect fared well his first time out, although the fastball velocity was down a few ticks to the 92-93 range coming off a latissimus injury. He struck out 16 of 23 batters in the minors and brings a high strikeout rate to the majors. Evans could emerge at the backend of the bullpen by the time 2021 finishes.

Recalled to big leagues The Rangers recalled Evans to their active roster Tuesday.

Impact Evans will be available during Tuesday's game against the Angels. In five appearances with Triple-A Round Rock this season, the righty has pitched 7.2 innings and allowed two earned runs. He fills one of the roster spots opened by injuries to Kyle Gibson (groin) and Hunter Wood (elbow).

Activated and optioned Evans (lat) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and optioned to the Rangers' alternate training site Saturday.

Impact Evans suffered a lat injury during the offseason but was expected to be in the mix for some high-leverage opportunities once he was cleared to return. Although the right-hander is now healthy, he'll work at the team's alternate training site going forward. Evans made four relief appearances for Texas last year and posted a 2.25 ERA and 0.75 WHIP in four innings.
