Joey Wentz - Season-high nine strikeouts in loss Wentz (1-7) took the loss Saturday, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk over six innings against the Twins. He struck out nine.

Impact Wentz had a perfect game going with one out in the fourth inning before walking Royce Lewis and then surrendering back-to-back singles to eventually put the Tigers down 0-2. Those would be the only two runs scored in the contest as the left-hander fell to 1-7 on the season despite posting a season-high nine strikeouts. Wentz also went six innings Saturday for the first time since May 3 against the Mets while issuing only one walk for the first time in three starts this month.

Javier Báez - Blasts home run Friday Baez went 1-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in Friday's win over the Twins.

Impact Baez tripled and drove in two Thursday night, then followed it up with another strong performance. The shortstop is riding a six-game hitting streak overall and now has his season OPS up to .614. That's still well below Baez's normal standards, but the recent stretch is at least a step in the right direction.

Mason Englert - Earns win Friday Englert (2-2) allowed one run on four hits across two innings of relief and earned the win Friday against the Twins. He had two strikeouts.

Impact Englert followed opener Will Vest and was able to earn the win despite allowing a lot of traffic on the bases during his two innings of work. The righty has a middling 4.87 ERA and 1.52 WHIP for the season, limiting his fantasy appeal. He has at least been able to give the Tigers some length out of the bullpen, as 14 of his 23 appearances this year have covered at least two innings.

Impact Cabrera started Thursday's game before getting a day off Friday. That's been the norm for the 40-year-old this season in what appears to be his last MLB campaign. Cabrera is not the feared hitter he used to be, as he has a .620 OPS on the year, which would be a new career low.

Impact With Zach McKinstry on the bench, the Tigers will turn to Vierling in the leadoff spot. Vierling has also chipped in four stolen bases this season, though he has been caught stealing five times.
