Eduardo Rodriguez - Looks sharp in no-decision Rodriguez allowed one run on five hits across six innings and did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 10-inning win over the White Sox. He walked two and struck out six.
Impact Rodriguez pitched well and left the game in line for the win with the Tigers up 4-1, but the White Sox scored four times in the seventh inning to saddle him with a no-decision. The lefty still took a step forward after allowing six earned runs across 10 total innings in his last two starts. Rodriguez lowered his ERA to a stellar 2.13 and will look to build on this strong outing his next time out, which will likely come next weekend against this same Chicago squad.

Akil Baddoo - Pops grand slam Sunday Baddoo went 1-for-4 with a walk and a grand slam in Sunday's 6-5, 10-inning win over the White Sox.
Impact Baddoo's grand slam in the third inning put the Tigers up 4-1 and they went on to win in extra innings. It was only the third home run of the season for the outfielder, though he's been mostly solid with a .263 batting average and .772 OPS. By comparison, Baddoo batted .204 last year with a .558 OPS. He's locked into a regular role in left field with Austin Meadows (personal) unavailable.

Alex Lange - Earns win Sunday Lange (3-0) pitched a scoreless inning of relief to earn the win in Sunday's 10-inning contest against the White Sox. He struck out two.
Impact Lange pitched the top of the 10th inning in a 5-5 tie and made quick work of Chicago on 12 pitches. He then earned the win when the Tigers plated one in the bottom half of the inning. Lange has been excellent this season, as he's now sitting on a 1.21 ERA and has struck out 30 batters in just 22.1 innings. The righty also leads the team with nine saves. If Detroit can continue to hover around .500, Lange should see plenty of opportunities moving forward.

Eric Haase - Reclaims primary catching duties Haase will start at catcher and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Impact Though Haase owns an unremarkable .640 OPS on the season, he's still offering more offensive production of late than Jake Rogers, who is slashing .093/.152/.279 thus far in May. Rogers appeared to overtake Haase as the Tigers' preferred catcher earlier this spring on the basis of his superior defense and his hot start to the season at the plate, but Rogers has started to lose playing time while his bat has cooled. Haase will start behind the plate for the fourth time in five games while Rogers takes a seat once again.

Impact Rogers average dropped to .156 after another hitless effort against the White Sox on Saturday, and he's registered just a .431 OPS in his 43 plate appearances in May. Eric Haase will be the starting backstop on Sunday and hit seventh.

Impact Lorenzen bounced back from a poor last start, where he gave up three home runs, to toss 6.2 innings with zero earned runs Saturday. The 31-year-old has had a rollercoaster 2023, giving up five or more earned runs three times while giving up one or fewer earned runs in his other five appearances. Through eight starts (46.1 innings), Lorenzen owns a 3.50 ERA and 1.10 WHIP to pair with a 2.92 K/BB. Though Lorenzen is best utilized as a matchup-based streamer and daily fantasy option due to his volatility, he can provide value to managers who are willing to put up with the occasional blow-up start.

Zack Short - Looks good again Saturday Short went 1-for-2 with two walks and a two-run home run in Saturday's win over the White Sox. He also stole a base.
Impact Short has looked good in 19 games with the Tigers, as he's now batting .310 with a 1.084 OPS. Short has a career .160 batting average with a .588 OPS, so the production this year has been unexpected to say the least. However, the hot stretch could earn him some extended playing time in the short term.

Zach McKinstry - Big game in win McKinstry went 3-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and two RBI in Saturday's win over the White Sox. He also stole a base.
Impact McKinstry paced Detroit's offense from the top of the order, chipping in his fourth home run and eighth stolen base of the season. The utility player has become a regular leadoff option for the Tigers and has responded with a .291 batting average. As long as he's hitting first most days, McKinstry could have some fantasy value in deeper leagues.
