Drew Hutchison - Sticking in rotation Hutchison is slated to start Sunday's series finale with the White Sox in Chicago, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Impact Currently in the midst of his third stint of the campaign with the big club, Hutchison will receive a second turn through the rotation this week after he made his third start of the season with Detroit on Tuesday. He claimed his first win in the Tigers' 11-4 victory over the Guardians, working five innings and striking out two while allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and no walks. Hutchison should stick in the rotation through the All-Star break, though he'll be at risk of losing his spot as soon as the Tigers get any of their missing starting pitchers back from the injured list.

Beau Brieske - Dazzles in win Thursday Brieske (2-6) pitched 6.1 scoreless innings to earn the win Thursday against the White Sox. He allowed two hits and a walk while striking out four.
Impact Chicago trotted out the red-hot Dylan Cease, but Brieske was up for the duel. This was the third time this season the rookie has allowed zero runs in a start, with the other two coming in consecutive outings June 11 and June 16. The two hits were also the fewest he's allowed in a game. Brieske only has 50 strikeouts across 75.2 innings, so he's not overpowering hitters, but he's been reasonably effective with a 4.16 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. He'll carry some positive momentum into his next scheduled start Tuesday against the Royals.

Jonathan Schoop - Steals fifth base Schoop went 1-for-4 with a stolen base Thursday in a 2-1 victory over Chicago.
Impact Schoop singled and stole second in the second inning. It was the third straight game he swiped a bag. The sudden outburst of speed is a bit surprising for the 30-year-old as he's never stolen more than two bases in any previous season. The second baseman has turned it on in July, going 11-for-27 with a double and four stolen bases.

Impact Dylan Cease and two Chicago relievers held the Tigers to just five total hits, but Baez made his lone hit count, going deep against Cease in the fourth inning. The shortstop now has eight long balls this season, with five of those coming since June 18. Baez can be a bit streaky, but he's trending in the right direction.

Gregory Soto - Narrowly escapes with save Soto allowed a run on two hits but managed to secure the save in Thursday's 2-1 win over the White Sox. He walked one and struck out one.
Impact Soto was fortunate that he was staked to a two-run lead to begin the ninth inning, because the lefty struggled and allowed his first run to score in his last six appearances. He still managed his 17th save of the season in 19 chances, retiring sluggers Jose Abreu and Eloy Jimenez with two runners in scoring position to end the game. Despite the shaky outing, Soto still has a solid 2.70 ERA this year, and he should have fairly good job security in the closer role moving forward.

Impact Peralta landed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday and is dealing with something between a Grade 1 and Grade 2 hamstring strain. He'll be shut down for a week or two and is unlikely to have a better return timetable until he's able to begin a throwing program.
