José Cisnero - Set to begin mound work next week Cisnero (shoulder) is scheduled to begin throwing off a mound Monday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Impact Cisnero has been on the shelf all season after he was diagnosed with a right shoulder strain late in spring training. The right-hander has resumed throwing off flat ground in recent weeks, but he looks like he'll soon be able to move on to the next phase of his rehab program by throwing bullpen sessions. Since he currently resides on the 60-day injured list, Cisnero isn't eligible to make his 2022 debut for the Tigers until at least early June.

Eduardo Rodriguez - Exits with apparent injury Rodriguez was removed from Wednesday's start against the Rays in the bottom of the first inning due to an apparent injury, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Impact Rodriguez allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while failing to record a strikeout in one-third of an inning before he exited with a trainer. He displayed decreased velocity prior to his removal and threw just 11 of his 23 pitches for strikes. The nature and severity of his injury aren't yet clear, and it's unknown whether the southpaw will be able to make his next turn through the rotation. If healthy, Rodriguez tentatively lines up to make his next start on the road against Minnesota on Monday.

Impact Coming into Tuesday, Brieske had allowed no more than three runs in any of his four starts while going five or more innings each time. He reached the five-inning mark again in his fifth start, but the righty was hit around a bit for the first time in his young MLB career. Home runs continued to be a bit of an issue for Brieske, as he allowed multiple long balls for the third time already in his rookie campaign. The 24-year-old may have more tough outings ahead if he can't keep the ball in the park. Brieske will carry a 5.13 ERA into his next scheduled start Sunday against the Guardians.

Impact Candelario hit his third home run of the season in the fifth inning, but as has often been the case this year, the Tigers struggled to get much else going offensively. The third baseman has contributed to those struggles at times with his .203 batting average, but he's at least been better in May with a .254 mark for the month. Candelario hit .271 in 2021 and .297 in 2020, so his track record suggests he'll continue trending upward.

Impact Faedo's inclusion in the rotation for a fourth straight turn comes as little surprise after he once again turned in another serviceable outing while taking a no-decision in Monday's win over the Rays. He struck out four over 5.2 innings while allowing one earned run and five baserunners, lowering his ERA and WHIP to 2.87 and 1.28, respectively. The Tigers are expected to get Matt Manning (shoulder) back from the injured list early next week, but Faedo should have the chance to stick around as the team's fifth starter until one of Casey Mize (elbow), Tyler Alexander (elbow) or Michael Pineda (finger) is cleared to return from the shelf.

Impact The home run, Castro's first of the season, came at a great time, as it put the Tigers ahead 3-2 in the top of the ninth inning. The utility player is a solid contact hitter, as evidenced by his .306 batting average, but he's never provided much pop. Castro's career high for home runs in a season is five, which he recorded back in 2019. He had just three long balls in 106 games last year.

Michael Fulmer - Blows save but earns win Fulmer (2-2) allowed one run on a hit and a walk to get credited with a blown save Monday against the Rays, though he was able to earn the win.

Impact Fulmer started the bottom of the eighth inning out with a strikeout, but got into some trouble by allowing a double and a walk with one out.
