Detroit Free PressOn today's pod, Mark & Evan talk the Detroit Tigers struggles last week, Miguel Cabrera's farewell to Miami and the looming MLB trade deadline.

Tanner Scott - Pitches through calf strainScott (calf) tossed a 1-2-3 eighth inning en route to earning his 21st hold of the season in Sunday's 8-6 win over the Tigers.
ImpactScott was hampered a mild right calf strain in his previous appearance Friday, but he needed just one day off to move past the issue before being made available out of the bullpen for the series finale. He served as the primary setup man in front of the newly acquired David Robertson, who tossed a perfect ninth inning to secure his first save with the Marlins.

Garrett Hampson - Optioned to Triple-AHampson was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ImpactThis move corresponds to Jazz Chisholm (oblique) getting activated from the 10-day injured list. Hampson hit .615 in 13 July at-bats, although he rarely started and often appeared as a pinch runner or defensive replacement.

Jon Berti - Earning more work in outfieldBerti will start in left field and bat sixth in Monday's game against the Phillies, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ImpactMarlins manager Skip Schumaker will continue to lean on the sizzling Berti, who will pick up his eighth straight start and his 10th in 11 games even though Miami has all its key position players available again with Jazz Chisholm and Avisail Garcia returning from the IL. Berti, who is slashing .472/.500/.611 with four extra-base knocks and three stolen bases since the All-Star break, is starting to gain traction in left field, where he's made three of his last four starts. While he continues to weld a hot bat, Berti looks as though he'll play ahead of Garcia and Avisail Garcia as the Marlins' third outfielder after Chisholm and Bryan De La Cruz.

Pirates look to build momentum in series opener vs. TigersThe Pittsburgh Pirates and visiting Detroit Tigers each have 47 wins heading into a two-game interleague series that begins Tuesday.

Jacob Stallings - Sits in favor of FortesStallings is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ImpactStallings will sit for the second day in a row while the Marlins reward Nick Fortes with another turn behind the dish after he delivered an RBI double in Sunday's 8-6 win over Detroit. The Marlins' catching situation remains fluid, with neither Stallings nor Fortes having produced well enough at the plate this season to establish himself as the team's clear-cut No. 1 backstop.

Jesús Sánchez - Hits bench against rightySanchez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ImpactSanchez will hit the bench for a third straight game, but unlike the previous two contests, the Marlins are facing a right-hander (Taijuan Walker) rather than a left-handed starter/primary pitcher. With Avisail Garcia returning from the injured list last week and Jazz Chisholm (oblique) getting activated Monday, the Miami outfield is more crowded these days, and it doesn't help Sanchez's cause that super-utility man Jon Berti has been picking up more work in left field of late. Sanchez has posted a modest .728 OPS since returning from an IL stint of his own in late May and could be relegated to more of a part-time role now that Miami has plenty of options in the outfield.
