Reese Olson - Struggles but takes no-decisionOlson allowed four runs on eight hits across 2.2 innings and did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Twins. He walked one and struck out three.
ImpactAfter holding Minnesota scoreless over six innings in his last start, it was a different story for Olson on Wednesday. The rookie labored, as he needed 67 pitches to retire eight batters and allowed way too many baserunners. However, his offense bailed him out in an eventual 8-7 Detroit win. Olson has shown some promise in his debut season, but inconsistency has left him with a 4.83 ERA overall. The righty should stick in the rotation, and he lines up to start again Monday against the Cubs.

Kerry Carpenter - Pops 16th home runCarpenter went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 8-7 win over the Twins.
ImpactCarpenter has been dialed in lately, as he's batting .412 over his last five games with four home runs. That's pushed the outfielder to 16 long balls for the season, which is 10 more than he had as a rookie last year. Carpenter has definitely taken a step forward after a promising debut in 2022, and he could be in line for an even bigger breakout in 2024.
