Rony García - Allows two runs in startGarcia allowed two runs on three hits across four innings and did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's win over the Twins. He walked two and struck out five.
ImpactMaking his first start of the season, Garcia held his own while he was in there, and his team pulled away in the 10th inning for the 4-2 win. It was the righty's first start at the MLB level since 2020, when he made two starts for Detroit. Garcia has otherwise worked as a reliever the past three seasons, and he's had some success this year with a 3.00 ERA and 0.83 WHIP overall. With Eduardo Rodriguez (ribcage) recently hitting the injured list, Garcia may be able to stick in the rotation, especially with Matt Manning (shoulder), Casey Mize (elbow), Michael Pineda (finger) and Tyler Alexander (elbow) all also out. Garcia is currently slated to face the Twins again in his next projected start Monday.

Jeimer Candelario - Hits key home runCandelario went 1-for-4 with a walk and a two-run home run in Wednesday's win over the Twins.
ImpactCandelario picked a good time for his only hit of the game, launching his fourth home run of the season in the 10th inning to put the Tigers up 4-2. Even with the long ball, it's been a struggle lately for the third baseman. Candelario is batting just .192 for the season and .125 over his past 10 games. By comparison, he batted .271 last year and .297 in 2020.

Harold Castro - Erupts for two home runsCastro went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs in Wednesday's win over the Twins.
ImpactCastro entered the contest with just one home run this season across 24 games, and he only had three long balls in 106 games last year, so the power outburst was definitely unexpected. The three-hit effort wasn't as rare, however, as the utility man did that as recently as May 15. Castro is now batting .301 for the season, and while the power won't always be there, he's certainly proven himself to be a capable hitter at the MLB level.
