Mitch Keller - On track for next startKeller (thigh) said Sunday he'll be fine to make his next start after being hit by a comebacker Saturday against the Tigers, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.
ImpactKeller made a precautionary exit from Saturday's contest after being struck in the thigh, but it shouldn't affect his status going forward. The 25-year-old made 23 starts for Pittsburgh last season and had a 6.17 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 92:49 K:BB over 100.2 innings, and he's attempting to retain a rotation spot during spring training.

Javier Báez - Makes team debut SaturdayBaez went 0-for-2 and played four innings at shortstop in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates.
ImpactBaez batted third, behind Robbie Grossman and Riley Greene, with Jonathan Schoop following that trio. Baez will be a focal point of Detroit's offensive attack this year, and while he's a bit of a free swinger (33.6 percent strikeout rate in 2021), he should still post good counting stats. The 29-year-old should also be back at shortstop on a regular basis after playing at second base next to Francisco Lindor when he joined the Mets at the trade deadline last season.

Robbie Grossman - Goes deep SaturdayGrossman went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates.
ImpactThe veteran batted leadoff in this one, which is where he often found himself in 2021. The Detroit outfield figures to get a bit more crowded in 2022 with the arrival of top prospect Riley Greene, though Grossman should be able to hold down a spot in left field with Greene likely taking over in right at some point. Grossman had 20 home runs, 20 stolen bases, 67 RBI and 88 runs scored last season, all of which were career bests. He could be in for another strong year if he sticks atop the order.

Daz Cameron - Has big game SaturdayCameron went 3-for-3 with a solo home run and two RBI in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates.
ImpactCameron is likely looking at a reserve outfield role at best to begin the season, as the Tigers have the likes of Robbie Grossman, Akil Baddoo and top prospect Riley Greene as potential starters. Cameron didn't do much to earn more playing time in 2021, posting a .194/.278/.359 slash line across 35 games, so a good spring would help his standing in the organization.
