Beau Brieske - Starts rehab assignmentBrieske (forearm) began a rehab assignment Sunday for Triple-A Toledo and struck out two while allowing two earned runs on five hits and two walks over three innings.

ImpactBrieske was making his first appearance at any level since July 12 after the Tigers moved him to the 15-day injured list coming out of the All-Star break due to right forearm soreness. The Tigers were looking to manage the rookie's workload anyway, so the injury doesn't seem to be a major concern. He tossed 45 pitches Sunday and will likely need to get ramped up with at least one more outing at Triple-A before slotting back into the big-league rotation.

Alek Manoah - Looks on track for next startBlue Jays interim manager John Schneider said Sunday that Manoah (elbow) is line to make his next turn through the rotation, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports.

ImpactManoah was fortunate to avoid anything more than a bruise after he was struck in his pitching elbow by a comebacker in his last outing Friday against the Tigers. He played catch Sunday and could be cleared to throw a side session Monday or Tuesday. If all goes well during the mound session, Manoah would be available to start as soon as Thursday's series opener in Minnesota. Due to an off day Monday, the Blue Jays would have the luxury of pushing Manoah's next start until Saturday if he needs a couple extra days to heal up.
