Starting season on IL Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Monday that LeMahieu (foot) will begin the season on the injured list, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.

Impact It's confirmation of what manager Aaron Boone said Sunday was the likely result. LeMahieu is a little more than a week removed from suffering a bone bruise in his right foot, an injury which has been "a slow go on the recovery side," per Cashman. The veteran infielder has been participating in some light baseball activities in recent days and his IL stint might not be a long one, but there's no firm timetable for his return yet.
