Impact Hall made a spot start last Sunday -- also against the Diamondbacks -- but he shifted back to the bullpen while the Brewers scaled back to a five-man rotation. The southpaw could be a candidate to make another spot start during the final week of the regular season if the Brewers' postseason seeding is solidified and the team wants to prioritize ordering its rotation for the playoffs.

Roughed up in short start Hall did not factor into the decision during Sunday's loss to the Diamondbacks, allowing five runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four in three innings.

Impact Four singles in the first inning led to two runs for the Diamondbacks. They would score three more in the third with just one hit after Hall loaded the bases and Pavin Smith cleared them with a double. It was a step backwards for Hall who was working on 12.2 scoreless innings across his last three appearances coming into Sunday. He's shown upside at times but now owns a 4.91 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 38:20 K:BB in 36.2 innings. It's possible he gets another start, but he'll likely return back to a relief role for now.

Impact Hall logged 5.2 innings across two relief appearances since joining the Brewers as a September call-up, and Sunday will mark his first start since he tossed seven scoreless frames in Cincinnati on Aug. 30. Hall has the potential to look excellent on the right day, but he's struggled to stay healthy for prolonged stretches while working as a traditional starter. Arizona's .787 OPS as a team against lefties ranks second in baseball behind the Phillies (.800 OPS).

He'll now head back to the minors, though there's a decent chance the 25-year-old southpaw returns to Milwaukee to boost its pitching depth once rosters expand Sunday.

Impact Hall was excellent in just his second big-league start since April, blanking the Reds over seven innings to earn his first win with Milwaukee. In two spot starts this month, Hall's allowed just one earned run while racking up 14 strikeouts over 11.2 innings. Impact Hall made his first big-league appearance since going on the shelf in late April with a sprained left knee and came out firing. Through three scoreless innings, Hall had punched out six batters, but he got a little wild in the fourth frame. He allowed Spencer Steer to steal a base on a wild pitch, walked Stuart Fairchild on six pitches and hit TJ Freidl with a pitch as part of a two-run inning for Cincinnati. He bounced back by retiring the first two batters of the fifth frame but was yanked after surrendering a solo homer to Tyler Stephenson and handing out a walk to Steer. Unless the Brewers expand to a six-man rotation, expect the 25-year-old Hall to be moved to the bullpen.

Impact Milwaukee already has five healthy starters, so unless manager Pat Murphy plans to expand the rotation to six men, Hall could be headed to the bullpen following Sunday's outing, which will be his first with the big club since April 20. Before landing on the IL with as left knee sprain, Hall's spot in the rotation may have already been on thin ice, as he submitted a 7.71 ERA and 2.27 WHIP across 16.1 innings over his four starts with the big club this season. The left-hander displayed better form over the final three outings of his rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville, logging a 2.77 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 12:6 K:BB across 13 innings. Hall topped out at five innings and 76 pitches during his rehab assignment, so he shouldn't be operating under any workload restrictions Sunday.

Impact Hall resumed his rehab assignment with Nashville after he had been shut down for just under two weeks while he recovered from a bruised left forearm, an injury he sustained when he was struck by a line drive in his previous outing July 9. As expected, Hall looks like he'll be built back up for a starting role, as he tossed 49 pitches (26 strikes) in his return to Nashville. He'll likely need at least two more outings in the minors to get fully stretched out before the Brewers potentially bring him back from the 60-day injured list a clear a spot for him in the rotation.
