Idle versus lefty Canzone isn't in the Mariners' lineup for Thursday's game against the White Sox.

Impact Canzone and his career .531 OPS versus lefties will take a seat on Seattle's bench Thursday while southpaw Garrett Crochet starts on the mound for Chicago. Mitch Haniger will pick up a start in right field as a result, allowing Mitch Garver to serve as the Mariners' DH.

Impact Canzone jumped on a four-seamer from Justin Verlander in the bottom of the fifth and sent it into the stands for his fifth home run of the campaign, tying the game at one run apiece. It was the outfielder's second long ball this month, during which he's batting just. 185 (5-for-27) with three RBI and three runs scored. Canzone hasn't recorded multiple hits in a game since April 8 in Toronto.

Impact After returning last Wednesday following a month-long stay on the injured list, Canzone had started in all but one of the Mariners' ensuing six games, going 3-for-14 with a pair of extra-base hits and two walks. While the lefty-hitting Canzone will hit the bench against Yankees southpaw Nestor Cortes, look for manager Scott Servais to open up playing time for both Canzone and fellow left-handed hitter Luke Raley at the corner-outfield spots when the Mariners face right-handed pitching. Rather than Raley, Mitch Garver and Mitch Haniger have been losing out on more opportunities against right-handed pitching since Canzone's return from the IL.

No timeline on return Mariners manager Scott Servais said Monday that there is no set timeline for Canzone (shoulder), Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

Impact Canzone was placed on the Mariners' 10-day IL on Monday. He sustained a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder Sunday after colliding with the outfield wall. Servais added that Canzone will be down "at least a couple of weeks." While Canzone is out, Jonatan Clase will see more starts in left field, beginning Monday against the Reds.

Impact He's dealing with a sprained AC joint, but an MRI cleared him of any additional damage. Jonathan Clase is expected to see the bulk of the at-bats in left field in Canzone's place.
