Lands on injured list Rasmussen was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left hamstring strain Wednesday, retroactive to June 12, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
Impact Rasmussen was listed as the starter for Thursday's game against the Yankees but will be unable to take the mound due to his hamstring injury that will keep him sidelined for at least two weeks. The right-hander was dominant in late April and early May but struggled recently, posting a 5.59 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 19.1 innings over his last four starts. The Rays haven't yet indicated who will take Rasmussen's place in the rotation, but Ralph Garza should be a candidate to pitch multiple innings Thursday after he was recalled Wednesday.

Stumbles against Twins Rasmussen (5-3) took the loss Friday, coughing up seven runs (four earned) on nine hits and two walks over 4.1 innings as the Rays fell 9-4 to the Twins. He struck out three.
Impact Byron Buxton was his biggest nemesis on the night, launching homers off Rasmussen in the first and fifth innings, but the right-hander didn't have much success against the rest of the Minnesota lineup either. Rasmussen has had his two worst performances of the season in his last three trips to the mound, but he'll still carry a 3.41 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 49:16 K:BB through 58 innings into his next start.

Impact Rasmussen didn't have his swing-and-miss stuff working in the outing -- he notched only six swinging strikes and just two punchouts -- but he didn't allow any extra-base hits and kept Chicago off the scoreboard for seven frames. He departed with a 2-0 lead, but the Rays' bullpen coughed up three runs in the eighth inning to blow his chance at a win. Rasmussen had his worst start of the campaign in his previous outing, so this was a nice bounce-back effort for him. He'll carry a 3.02 ERA into his next start, which is slated to come at home against St. Louis on Thursday.

Impact The three walks were a season high, and Rasmussen also allowed two home runs for the first time in his 10 starts this year.
