Needs Tommy John surgery Manager Torey Lovullo announced Sunday that Jameson (elbow) will require Tommy John surgery, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Impact The right-hander elected for the rest-and-rehab route after being diagnosed with a UCL strain in late July, but he'll ending needing Tommy John surgery. Jameson had a 3.32 ERA over 40.2 innings this season but is now likely to be sidelined until 2025 given the typical 12-to-18 month recovery timeline for the procedure.

Impact Jameson, who was moved from the 15-day to 60-day injured list Saturday, sustained the injury during a pitch in Thursday's game. At the time, he reported it to manager Torey Lovullo, pitching coach Brett Strom and trainer Max Esposito as a cramping in his hand and mentioned nothing about the elbow. The right-hander remained in the game to throw another 17 pitches. Lovullo was told the extra pitches did not impact the injury and that "the damage had already been done." The manager acknowledged that doctors are looking at the area of the ulnar collateral ligament, which suggests Tommy John surgery is in the offing.

The dark lining to this silver cloud are the two home runs and five walks allowed along with a .158 BABIP, which project a 6.23 FIP. Fortunately for Jameson, both homers were solo shots and the free passes have not hurt.
