Impact Lucas will lose his spot on the 40-man roster with the Tigers selecting the contracts of Jace Jung and Trey Sweeney. Lucas hasn't pitched for Detroit since July 28. The 27-year-old has a 10.29 ERA in MLB this season but posted a 3.51 ERA across 33.1 innings with Triple-A Toledo, where he'll likely remain if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

Impact Lucas will provide a fresh arm for a Detroit bullpen that was forced to cover the final seven innings of Saturday's 7-3 win over the Blue Jays after starter Reese Olson (shoulder) exited early. The southpaw reliever has previously made three appearances at the big-league level this season, all with Oakland. He had compiled a 4.38 ERA and 1.40 WHIP while striking out 32 batters over 24.2 innings at Toledo after Detroit claimed him off waivers in May.

Impact Lucas' stay with the big club lasted just one day, and he went unused out of the bullpen in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Phillies. He'll be replaced on the 26-man active roster by right-hander Keider Montero, who was called up from Toledo to serve as a bulk reliever in Wednesday's series finale versus Philadelphia.

Traded to A's The Orioles traded Lucas to the Athletics on Wednesday in exchange for Shintaro Fujinami, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Impact Lucas began 2023 with Double-A Bowie and was promoted to Triple-A Norfolk after a hot start. The 26-year-old lefty has since put up a 4.26 ERA and 1.39 WHIP through 12.2 frames in Triple-A. If Lucas is able to hold his own in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, he could find his way into the Athletics' bullpen this season -- though he would have to be added to the 40-man roster first.
