Back in action at Triple-A Leonard (hamstring) has gone 1-for-7 over two games since being reinstated from Triple-A Toledo's 7-day injured list Friday.

Impact Leonard returned to action for Toledo earlier this weekend for the first time since straining his right hamstring June 25 while running the bases, per Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press. The 23-year-old infielder has now had two extended absences this season, as he was also sidelined from April 8 through May 20 with a left oblique strain.

Impact Leonard was placed on Toledo's IL in early April with an oblique strain and missed just under two months of action before returning to the Triple-A lineup June 4. However, he appeared in just 16 games for Toledo before getting shut down again with a new injury. Leonard -- who possesses a spot on the Tigers' 40-man roster -- is without a clear timeline for a return from the IL.

Impact Leonard has performed well in 21 plate appearances in the Cactus League with a .400/.429/.450 slash and three RBI. The infielder will likely start the 2023 campaign in Double-A after hitting .264 with a .784 OPS along with 15 homers for High-A Great Lakes in 2022.

Impact He slugged 22 homers and stole nine bags in the minors last year, but Leonard's power and speed production have both fallen off noticeably so far this season. Even so, the 21-year-old has been solid at the plate while seeing time at three infield positions (second, third and short) as well as center field. He seems to have a classic utility profile, though there's still room for skill growth here.
