Impact The dominant righty converted his 22nd consecutive save chance, with his last blown save coming back in late May. Diaz has been almost untouchable all season, posting a career-best 50.2 percent strikeout rate to support his 1.31 ERA and 0.84 WHIP through 62 innings.

Impact Diaz entered the game with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, tasked with protecting a 7-5 lead with a runner on first. The right-hander made quick work of Rowdy Tellez, striking him out to end the frame before he set the Brewers down in order in the ninth, registering two more punchouts in the final inning. Diaz is now up to 31 saves on the campaign and has converted his last 21 save opportunities. Since the All-Star break, the closer has produced a 0.87 ERA and 0.68 WHIP with 35 punchouts over 20.2 innings in 19 appearances while going 11-for-11 on save chances.

Picks up multi-inning save Diaz picked up the save Friday against the Pirates, allowing no runs on no hits while striking out two and walking one over 1.2 innings.

Impact Diaz's save Friday was his 30th of the season, good for seventh in baseball. It was his first save since Aug. 31 and the third time he was called upon to save the game across multiple innings. After seeing his ERA spike to 1.52 at the beginning of the month, Diaz has pitched well, giving up no runs and two hits across 3.1 innings. His season ERA now sits at 1.43.

Impact Diaz issued a couple of free passes and allowed the winning run to get into scoring position on a successful double steal by the Phillies, but he turned to his slider in a 2-2 count to get Nick Castellanos to chase and end the close game with a dramatic strikeout. The save gives Diaz 27 on the year which is tied for third-best in the majors. The 28-year-old closer has not given up an earned run dating back to June 18 and boasts a sparkling ERA of 1.33.
